One ALREADY???

We celebrated Lyla's birthday with a quiet little family party. She is such a doll! We all adore her! My friend Adrienne at http://www.stitcheroos.com/ made Lyla her personalized birthday shirt last minute (because I live pretty much one day at a time and didn't think about it until the day before her birthday) it turned out so cute!

Not sure what I'm doing in this picture....she is very wiggly and I was probably saying "take the picture before she jumps!!"

My cute sister Steph- love having sisters close by to come to birthday parties and hang out. Tying to convince one of my siblings to settle here in UT with me...I need someone close!

Not walking yet...she is rather insulted when we try and suggest that she might like to try. I'm not worried- she will walk and then RUN. Yikes!

Ladybug cake- turned out pretty cute if I do say so myself!
The first year of Lyla's life speed by! Can't believe my baby is almost not a baby...must enjoy each stage before it's over!

Quick Halloween before Christmas!

Halloween is not my favorite holiday- but it's growing on me. Holidays are work intensive as a mom but fun. We had a great Halloween- the weather was perfect and Jo and Alena came down and went trick or treating with us. Janae and Daniel struck out on their own this year to trick or treat with friends. This was Janae's last year of trick or treating so she had to make it worth while- she came home with a haul!

The MAN in black. He especially loved the suit and spray painted gun. He looked cool and he and his friends got an obscene amount of candy. Yum!

I actually hate this picture- isn't black lipstick and eyeliner a mom's worst nightmare??? I guess that's what Halloween is all about. Janae's friends came over so they could get ready together- this look took 2 HOURS to perfect. I finally kicked the girls out of the bathroom so the rest of us could get ready.

We totally stole this pumpkin idea from a friend on FB. Daniel, of course, was the creator of this pumpkin- he thought it was very funny!

Tyler was a cute Bumblebee- he loves Halloween!

Katie was a fairy princess. So cute!

Lyla was a reluctant Hershey Kiss- she did not like the hat and really only left it on for a couple of pictures. She is sweet!

Lately at our house

Sometimes life is just crazy around here! I guess that's to be expected with all these people to love and take care of. Some of the highlights of the weekend include:

**Janae and 4 friends hanging out here on Friday night. They ate a large quantity of pancakes (all I could think of to do last minute for dinner for all of them), listened to music, ran around outside and were VERY loud. They are cute girls full of energy and a great interest in BOYS. Oh man.

**Saturday Janae and I painted her room for one of her YW 10 hour projects. She picked a nice shade of green called "twist of lime" and it turned out very cute. The not so cute part happened after we were done and Lyla escaped while I was cleaning the kitchen (because if I have been busy all day painting the rest of the house looks like a bomb went off) and managed to get into the paint. The first warning I had that there was trouble were the little green hand prints in the carpet at the top of the stairs. I opened Janae's door to find a baby COATED in "twist of lime" paint along with the newly painted walls, radio, and of course the carpet. There was also a nice little trail of baby hand prints from Janae's room into the girls room where Lyla wiped her hands on Katie's coat and then on all kinds of toys. Why was there paint left out you ask? Well, it was only a cup with a brush left to do some touch up and the owner of the room was asked to please keep her door shut so the baby wouldn't get in the room. Anyway, we learned some valuable lessons from this YW project. (and no I don't have a picture I was to busy freaking out)

**After spending sometime on our hands and knees most of the paint came out and I went to a baby shower for one of my VT. I was the OLD one at the party- everyone there was in their 20's with 1-3 kids. I felt even older when I found out the expectant Mom is only 21 and on baby number 2. I felt so wise. But mostly old. And tired.

**Today was a good day. Sunday's are not a day of rest around here but I did forgo the big family dinner and Jared made us french toast (one of his specialties). In fact we had breakfast for 3 meals today- cereal, breakfast burritos, and french toast.

**I have been trying to read "Catching Fire" for weeks and just can't find the time- I'm off to read for at least 1/2 hour before I zonk!

Four part two

Katie was SO excited for her birthday! She reminded me daily for weeks that her birthday was on Oct. 29th and that she would be 4. It was a fun day packed with parties, friends and fun. I think she had a great day!

Please do not look too closely at the "doll cake". Her skirt is a little square but Katie loved her...we should have named her but I guess she was eaten too fast. I also made her little felt crown- it turned out cute and reminded us all day that she was indeed 4.

Katie's play group had a Halloween party the morning of her birthday and she wanted to stay a fairy Princess for her party. I couldn't argue with that face! Isn't she beautiful???
